In 2WD models, the Vortec 5.3L V8 engine generates 320 horsepower and 340 lb.-ft. of
torque. In 4x4 models, this engine generates 310 horsepower and 335 lb.-ft. of torque.
The composite intake manifold design allows the Vortec 5.3L to deliver high levels of
torque at lowrange and midrange engine speeds - which makes it ideal for towing - yet
still supplies plenty of airflow for peak engine horsepower.
Active Fuel Management™ provides seamless transition from eight cylinders to four
and back again, with both power and efficiency.
For consistently smooth shifts, the four-speed automatic transmission features an input
speed sensor and Transmission Control Module that optimize shift quality based on
driver input. And Dexron VI transmission fluid helps provide long-term reliability and
durability.

features Active Fuel Management ™ technology, which provides seamless transition
from eight cylinders to four and back again, with both power and efficiency. This
powertrain also includes Variable Valve Timing (VVT) technology that optimizes
combustion, enhances low-end torque and high-end power, promotes fuel efficiency,
and helps lower emissions.
