Vortec V8 Engines
The next-generation Vortec V8 engines have taken a big step forward in
power, performance and efficiency. The Vortec 5.3L V8 engine, standard
on half-ton 2WD models, generates 320 horses. The available Vortec 6.0L
V8 in half-ton models creates 366 horsepower and 380 lb.-ft. of torque.
Both feature Active Fuel Management™ technology, which allows for
seamless movement from eight cylinders to four cylinders with no
reduction in available power. The Vortec 6.0L, standard in three-quarter-
ton models, pumps out a prodigious 352 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of
torque.
